Chapter 98 Vision
Aili Shafik stared at the front in a trance, her back against a hemlock, her soft fingers rhythmically tapping her red lips.
Xing Ze asked Hagrid how to deal with the unicorn's body, and the gamekeeper clapped his hands and replied: "Just leave it here, it will return to nature."
"Okay." Xing Ze stood up, he looked at Ali, waiting for her to give a suggestion - whether to continue exploring or go back to report.
"We have to find that thing." The eldest lady straightened up and gave an answer as expected, "We can't let the tragedy happen again." She said it firmly, with a momentum that people can't resist.
"I agree." Hagrid agreed in a hoarse voice, "No matter who did it, I will make him pay the price."
Xing Ze didn't object. He originally planned to go to the depths of the Forbidden Forest to have a look. If he encountered danger, putting aside Ali, Hagrid, as a half-blood giant and gamekeeper, the Forbidden Forest is his second home, not to mention that his magic attainments are not bad.
"Let's go, we've wasted too much time here." Xing Ze said, "Hagrid, take us to the depths to have a look."
"No problem, but you have to follow me closely, just follow my footsteps, do you understand?" The gamekeeper said seriously.
Xing Ze and Ellie nodded.
This vast land is called the Dark Forest for a reason. The outer edge of the Forbidden Forest, the sun is already difficult to penetrate the layers of leaves, and the deeper you go, the taller the trees are, the more complicated the branches are, and the more scarce the light above your head becomes.
However, there is one thing that is increasing, the fog, the gauze-like fog initially just lingers under their feet, and as they go deeper, the fog begins to rise and surrounds them.
"Follow closely." Hagrid reminded again, "The fog is getting thicker."
"Why don't you use magic to disperse the fog." Xing Ze asked puzzledly.
"Because the fog is also part of the Forbidden Forest, some magical animals live in the fog, and if you disperse the fog, you will anger them." Ellie, who was walking in the middle, explained.
As she spoke, Xing Ze found that the mist around him was churning, and something slid across his arm, cold and smooth.
"Stop, stop." Hagrid whispered, "Let them pass first."
The three stopped, and the things sliding across their bodies began to increase. Hagrid took out three dried flowers from his loose pocket.
"Take it." He gave one to Ellie and Xing Ze each, "Take it, and don't make a sound."
The moment he took the flower, the feeling of sliding across his body became less and less, and finally disappeared, but Xing Ze could still see the mist around him rolling and surging.
This situation lasted for a long time, and when the mist returned to calm, Hagrid said, "Okay, let's move on."
"What is that?" The experience just now aroused Xing Ze's curiosity.
"Mist snake." Hagrid explained, "A magical animal that lives in the fog, usually acting in groups. They have no eyesight, but good hearing, as long as they don't make a sound, there is no danger."
It's really interesting. Xing Ze sighed in his heart. Although his mother in this world was a protector of magical animals, she had never mentioned this strange creature.
Hagrid turned and walked forward. "Keep the flowers." He said, "You may encounter them later."
The three continued to move forward. The fog gradually dissipated, and the sun shone through the sparse branches. They walked out of the woods and came to a clearing covered with weeds.
Hagrid put the package behind him on the ground, panted and said, "Let's rest here for a while, eat something and drink some water."
No one opposed his proposal. Xing Ze looked up and looked for the raven. He soon saw its figure on a gray-white stone not far from them.
"The situation is not bad." Ellie said to Hagrid, "There is nothing unusual along the way."
"Yes, this is good, isn't it?" Hagrid took out a large kettle and gulped down a few mouthfuls. The clear spring water went down his throat, making him feel very comfortable.
"We'll walk a little further in the afternoon and we'll reach the cave." He wiped his mouth and said, "Then go out the other side, so we can get back to the cabin before dark."
"I'll listen to you." Ellie nodded, gestured with her hand, and a warm water cup appeared out of thin air.
She drank some water and whispered to Hagrid, "What do you think?"
Hagrid followed her gaze and saw the young wizard who was exploring around. He pondered for a moment and said, "Xing Ze? What's wrong with him? I think he's fine. Without him, we can't find out the real cause of death of the unicorn."
"That's the problem." Ellie motioned Hagrid to lower his voice, "How did he know that the unicorn had a wound on its neck?"
"Uh, didn't he give an explanation?"
"Come on, he's talking nonsense. I don't believe that he can draw inferences based on that little information." The eldest lady narrowed her eyes, "Unicorn blood, Hagrid, what can it do?"
"Unicorn blood can prolong life." The gamekeeper replied quickly.
"Yes, it can prolong life. Who needs it most now?"
This time Hagrid pondered for a long time. He stroked his beard and said, "I don't know, miss, a seriously ill person? A werewolf? Uh, but I don't think a werewolf can catch a unicorn."
"It's him, Hagrid." Ellie gave the answer in a voice that was almost whispered, "It's that terrible dark wizard, she's back. I checked the wound on the abdomen, the residual magical energy, I know it's him."
"Oh, God. You mean..." the gamekeeper exclaimed uncertainly. His exclamation caught Xing Ze's attention.
"What's wrong?" Xing Ze asked.
"No, nothing... nothing. I just found a rare spider." Hagrid made up a lie.
"I think you should come and see." Xing Ze seemed to have discovered something, "There's something here."
The two looked at each other, stood up and walked towards Xing Ze.
In a pile of green and yellow weeds, they saw some rotten meat. Xing Ze used a dead branch to push away a few sedges that were growing vigorously, so that the things hidden in it could be more clearly seen.
"A hare?" Hagrid guessed as he looked at the pile of things, because the only thing that could identify its original appearance was a pair of long ears.
"Merlin's beard, how did it become like this?" Ellie leaned over and picked up a dead branch to pick up some slippery and sticky minced meat.
It's better not to be like that. Xing Ze stood up and looked at the opposite woods. He exhaled a long breath, and his face was extremely ugly.
Hagrid and Ellie noticed his abnormality and looked over together. On the grass leading to the opposite forest, there were many similar pieces of blood and flesh scattered.
Most of the blood clots were hidden among the weeds, but the bright red color was still easy to see.
"We have to leave here!" Xing Ze suddenly woke up, "Quick, leave here!"
