Chapter 304 Big Trouble
"Why did the ship stop?" Laura looked around and asked in confusion.
Nathan didn't know the situation either. He leaned over to the side of the ship and looked into the sea below, trying to figure out what happened.
Chen Ke hugged his chest and didn't move, but his eyes slowly turned blue and quickly scanned the hull. At the same time, he also looked at the surrounding scenery. A few seagulls flew across the sky from time to time, the sea was sparkling, and the sun was still scorching. He didn't find anything unusual.
Chen Ke stomped his feet, and his shoes stepped on the deck, making a clanging sound, which made him feel more at ease.
"What are you doing?" Nathan noticed Chen Ke's strange behavior and asked curiously.
Chen Ke smiled, shrugged, and said, "Nothing, just to see if we are still here."
"I think you have come to a conclusion, Mr. Chen Ke?" Laura said, with her hands on her waist, and the expression on her face seemed to be a little mocking.
"That's right." Chen Ke nodded.
"I hope that will make you feel more at ease. I would rather ask Conrad directly what's going on." Laura said, walking past Chen Ke and heading towards the bridge.
"She is like this, she only believes what she sees." Nathan smiled helplessly.
Chen Ke did not respond, but just smiled in agreement, and then followed Nathan to the bridge.
In the command room on the second floor of the bridge, Conrad was not surprised by the visit of the three people, and it was rare that Conrad's attitude was very gentle this time, and his words were not as harsh as before.
The sailor at the helm said nothing. Now the engine of the ship was stopped, and it was basically drifting with the flow.
"You mean. We are being targeted by the Administration?" Nathan asked.
"I'm afraid so. Our shipboard radio just received a call from the Administration. It was their patrol ship. They asked us to stay where we are and wait for them to come for inspection." Conrad answered with a cup of coffee in his left hand.
"It's just a fishing boat. Why are they so nervous?" Laura was puzzled.
Conrad looked at the other crew members around him, said nothing, and drank a sip of coffee.
But Chen Ke knew very well that this ship was not a fishing boat, but a sacred relic smuggling ship. The maritime patrol of the Administration suddenly inspected this time, and they might have been watching Conrad for a long time...
"Yes, this is just an ordinary fishing boat, so we will wait here and see what they want to do. However, your trip may be delayed for an hour or two, I hope you don't mind." Conrad said, looking at Chen Ke.
"Just don't go wrong, you can handle this kind of thing, right Captain Conrad?" Chen Ke hugged his chest and said without comment.
Conrad certainly knew what Chen Ke knew, and Chen Ke must have known that he was a sacred relic smuggler at sea.
"In that case, there is nothing to worry about. Just let them go on board to take a look. It shouldn't take much time, right?" Nathan laughed, trying to ease the atmosphere.
"Just when I mentioned them, they came, look." Laura pointed to the horizon outside the window.
A ship of about the same tonnage as a fishing boat was approaching the Endurance from the southeast. The ship was all white, with a double-barreled gun on the bow, and several people in orange uniforms were standing on the deck.
Conrad pursed his lips and turned to go out. Chen Ke, Nathan and Laura followed the other crew members and walked to the deck with Conrad, waiting for the people from the Administration to board the ship.
It took a few minutes for the two ships to dock. There was a long string of English written on the side of the Administration's ship, which probably meant the Administration's coastline patrol unit. The orange uniforms they wore were very similar to the sanitation workers in Chen Ke's impression.
Several people stepped on the plank between the two ships and boarded the Endurance carefully. The leader shook hands with Conrad symbolically and talked briefly.
Chen Ke noticed that these people had M16A4s hanging around their waists. They were bare guns without pendants, and from the appearance alone, they were the original guns that had not been modified in any way.
They also had a handheld radar-like instrument hanging around their waists. It was speculated that it was the same as what Priskin used, used to detect the spiritual elements in the human body to prevent psychics from sneaking in and out of the country.
But Chen Ke was not sure whether the other party was a psychic.
There were a total of six people from the Administration on the ship. They didn't seem to be very alert. It should be just a routine matter. Conrad should be able to handle this matter well.
"It's a good day to go out to sea, eh?" The agent of the Administration stood beside Conrad with his hands on his waist.
"Yes, the seagulls fly very low. We follow them and we won't have trouble finding fish." Conrad replied.
"Is it convenient for us to look around the ship?" the agent asked.
"Of course, you know I can't refuse you." Conrad spread his hands, then he ordered several crew members to take the Administration agents into the cabin, and shouted to Chen Ke and the others, indicating that they should go into the cabin and wait.
Several people returned to their resting place, and Chen Ke leaned against the door to observe the whereabouts of these agents through spiritual vision.
The six agents had clear division of labor, and one person stayed on the deck to contact others with a communicator. Two people were responsible for checking the crew rest area, and the remaining three followed Conrad downstairs to the fish hold.
The inspection of the hull by the Administration agents was not rough. It was different from what Chen Ke had imagined. They only needed to scan the cabin with the handheld device to complete the work.
But it wasn't that fast. The inspection was very detailed. They even had to scan the pillows.
"What do you think they are looking for?" At this time, Laura came over and leaned against the bulkhead opposite Chen Ke.
"I don't know. It's probably to check for smuggled goods." Chen Ke replied.
"Smuggled goods... I think this kind of thing should be handed over to the maritime patrol. The maritime patrol under the management should have more important things to do." Laura was a little unconvinced.
"It depends on what is smuggled." Nathan popped up at some point and continued.
"What do you mean..." Laura's eyes widened.
"Those shiny little stones?" Chen Ke said, lowering his voice so that the people in the management bureau couldn't hear.
"Don't talk nonsense, it's just a fishing boat..." Laura was a little unconvinced.
"Wait and see, Laura, I think something will happen soon... I have this hunch." Nathan shook his head.
As the two talked, Chen Ke's eyes were always on the ground. His spiritual vision allowed his vision to penetrate the walls and floors, allowing the dozen people on the lower floor to appear in his eyes with blue transparent outlines.
They were in the fish hold at the moment, and three agents were scanning the cabin. He noticed that among the dozen people, several of the outer ones had their hands behind their backs and seemed to be holding guns.
"We're fine here." The agent in the crew rest area finished his work and said to the intercom.
The agent standing on the deck, judging from his outline, should be chatting with a crew member and felt very relaxed.
Chen Ke looked down again.
The three agents in the fish hold were slowly groping for the vacuum compartment at the bottom, and the scanning movement slowed down.
One of the agents stood up and seemed to be negotiating with someone around him. Chen Ke guessed that it was Conrad. The other two agents were still scanning the vacuum zone and were about to reply to the intercom.
Of course, they didn't have that chance.
Several crew members around the three agents suddenly approached from behind and stabbed them several times in the back. No sound came up, and the three agents were already dead.
Then, someone took out a mobile phone and said something.
Chen Ke stopped using his psychic vision. Laura and Nathan were still arguing. He looked to the right and saw a black crew member just hung up the phone and gestured to the crew members around him.
"Nathan, you are such a bad guy. It seems we are in big trouble." He interrupted the conversation between the two and whispered.
"What... what?" Nathan was puzzled.
But in the next second, he understood.
