Chapter 8 "The Deceiver"
The dark clouds in the sky were a bit heavy. Ever since the crows cried, the manor had an inexplicable strange feeling. A breeze blew, blowing the black cloth covering the windows not far away. Some dark shadows could be vaguely seen inside, which should be some furniture. There were some tiny cracks on the worn marble walls outside, and some grass broke through the wall. The angled roof looked like it had suffered something, and there was a big black hole. Camus and the others looked at each other and decided to come back tomorrow to ask the villagers what was going on.
"Pah..."
"Who?"
I heard that Goreys came out of the ruins of the servants' house with half a wooden board in his hand, which exposed his embarrassment.
Camus picked up the oil lamp and squinted his eyes to see that it was Mondi Goreys, and waited quietly for him to say something.
"Oh... It's really dark and windy tonight, Miss Rabbit, Mr. Elf, I'm lost, where is this place? This house is really poorly built."
Susie looked at Goreys expressionlessly, as if she would rush up and hold down Monty Goreys and beat him up if she didn't agree with him, but she looked a little wary.
"Aren't you going to Wolf Hill to find the "Wolf Beauty"? There's nothing you want here, Mr. Elf, let's go."
As if she thought of something, Miss Rabbit's desire to attack decreased, and she was ready to leave with Camus.
Seeing the two people leave, "Deceiver" Goreys looked at the gloomy manor. "It" not only pointed out that there were "sad tears" here, but also pointed out "seeing". So what does "seeing" mean? And the "seeing" guided by "it" smelled the "different" breath.
"Hi... two of you, how about cooperating? I believe you must have some purpose for coming here. Miss Rabbit, you know my "ability". I believe it will benefit everyone, right?"
At this time, Camus and the others had already walked to the gate. Camus suddenly stepped on something alien, squatted down with an oil lamp, and looked at some red seeds on the ground.
"Miss Susie, what do you think this is? It seems to be found in other places besides here."
Susie stopped when she heard it, picked up some seeds on the ground and pinched them with her fingers, and walked to the corner to see this seed.
"It looks like the seeds of the fire velvet tree, which represents "expulsion", "holiness" and "burning". In legend, it is the habitat tree of "Light Dragon" "La". It looks like this is a "barrier".
"These things are not rare. They must have been made by some villagers. Did you feel the sense of being watched just now?"
Camus walked out of the manor, and the vague sense of being watched behind him was less, "I thought it was caused by my fear. Do you have that feeling too? "
Susie also walked out of the manor and pointed at her long pink ears, "This is a racial talent, which becomes stronger as I become stronger. My racial talent is "alertness", and your racial talent should be "plant affinity, dark bonus". The racial talents of some high-level monsters are no less than "sequence", so you have to be careful in the future.
Camus rubbed his fingers and lowered his head in thought, "Miss Susie, the sense of peeping you feel, is it in the direction of the second floor of the big house?"
"No... in the "underground", my alert talent tells me that there is a scary existence in the "underground".
The two looked at each other and said eagerly, "Two peepers".
"Hey...you two are walking so fast, do you want to cooperate? I just need something, I think this place is a little "different", let's cooperate, I will use my ability, it's good for everyone, how about it?
Seeing Gao Ruisi coming over, Susie looked at the manor and felt very tricky. This guy's ability can indeed help herself and others, but is it really safe to cooperate with a deceiver?
After thinking for a while, Susie pursed her lips and did not answer. Camus said faintly, "We can cooperate, but you have to share information. I don't believe you are here to find the "Wolf Beauty".
Gorris took out a piece of paper from his leather armor without changing his expression and handed it to Camus, "This is the information I know. You can take a look first."
Camus opened the paper and looked at the information on it with the help of the oil lamp, "See".
Seeing the two people looking suspicious, Goris spread his hands, "It" guided me to a message, which is "see", but when these two words were displayed, I felt a different breath overflowing from "it", just like the breath of Mr. Elf, so I want to talk to you, what did you encounter, or what do you know? In exchange, I need this answer.
Camus looked at his body after hearing it, "The exchange is indeed fair, but I'm sorry, I don't know what breath I have... um... wait. "
Camus raised his head in shock, "Nightmare", I encountered a nightmare and a gravekeeper today, is it the aura you mentioned?"
Miss Susie and Gao Ruisi were silent for a while after hearing this, "Nightmare" represents "Sequence Seven", and "Gravekeeper" represents "Sequence One", which is a bit troublesome.
After thinking for a while, the three decided to collect some evidence first and talk about it in the morning.
The three drove a carriage to the village. It was too dark to see the layout, but it could be roughly seen that there were not many houses here, about a dozen houses, all shrouded in the night.
Because oil is precious, people would not waste oil to light lamps at night unless it is not necessary. However, it is only about nine o'clock now, and some people should still be awake. The three of them arrived at a house with a wooden roof on the upper part and stone on the lower part, and knocked on the door.
"Sir, I'm sorry to bother you. We are adventurers going to Caldecott City. We want to ask about the situation. We are willing to pay."
As the knocks and voices came in and out, there were sparse sounds in the room. After a while, the orange light shone through the cracks in the door, and the door opened with a creak. A goat man wearing a brown jacket, black pants, leather shoes, a black horn on his head, and some white beard walked in and opened the door.
Seeing Camus and the other two, the goat man made way and let them in.
The orange light illuminated the house. The layout of the space was very simple, with a dirty wooden floor, a fireplace with some sparks, a bed covered with sheepskin, a greasy table with an oil lamp, a cabinet full of bottles and jars, a stove, several wooden stools, hunting rifles and furs hanging on the wall, and a slightly open window with an iron fence inside.
After closing the door, the goat man picked up his clothes, took out his pipe, lit the pipe and took a puff. In the red tobacco and white smoke, the goat man introduced himself.
"My name is Renfensan Oklundis. What do you need to ask three strangers? Let me tell you first, no matter what the news is, five copper coins, okay?"
Susie took out five copper coins from her pocket and handed them to the goat man. "I need you to tell me everything about the Loranditch Manor, Mr. Oklundis."
Oklundis touched his cheek, took a puff of his pipe, invited the three to sit down, and took a puff of cigarette and slowly spoke in the smoke.
"That was three years ago, on May 24th. I was hunting on a peak of the Xilo Mountains outside the Lolandi Manor. It was noon that day, and I shot a rabbit and prepared to cook it for lunch. When I was picking up wood, I saw a fire at the Lolandi Manor. When I came back, I heard that a fire had broken out in the "Red Church", and everyone, including the "Red Lady", died. We hurried to rescue people, but we only found a pile of charred corpses in the church, "and it seemed that they did not run away" and died neatly in the church. Then everyone separated to look for survivors, and we found three unlucky guys in the sawmill of the manor. They were squatting in the corner "crying and wailing" and saw the devil. They were unconscious and seemed to be crazy.
