Chapter 324 The Security Council Removed You From Office, but Not Completely
"Bad news, Lainie. The Security Council has ordered you to be removed from your position as the head of the Avengers Project. The project has been handed back to SHIELD, and the director is currently looking for a new person in charge."
Looking at the text message from Coulson on her phone, Lainie raised her eyebrows. She had expected that the guys in the Security Council would cause trouble for her, but she didn't expect that the revenge would come so quickly.
But this is indeed expected. After all, she offended the Security Council so much, and the other party would definitely find a reason to attack her. Tony and Rhodey were blocking other places, and now only SHIELD could make trouble for her.
As for the revocation of the position of the head of the Avengers Project, Lainie didn't care at all. The purpose of the Avengers was not to serve SHIELD and the Security Council. What does it matter whether it is revoked or not?
At most, she can change her name, League of Legends or Heroes of the Storm, but the name of Avengers has the strongest sense of ceremony.
Without replying to Coulson, Lainie put on sunglasses, started the engine, and drove the R8 towards the center of New York City.
She still had a lot of important things to do. There was no movement from the Cosmic Cube for the time being, but Lainie knew that Loki would never give up. While there was still some time, she had to make the final arrangements as soon as possible.
The most important thing was the completion ceremony of Stark Tower.
From a distance, Lainie saw the completed new Stark Tower between several towering buildings in downtown New York. The huge STARK letters were faintly reflecting the brilliance under the sunlight.
Unlike the perception in the movie, in reality, looking at this building that is extremely famous in the history of Marvel movies, Lainie couldn't help but sigh in her heart:
"As a Marvel fan, I have no regrets in my life!"
While waiting for the traffic light, Lainie took another look at the mobile phone on the passenger seat next to her. Coulson had just sent her a new text message.
"Good news. The director did not hand over the Avengers plan to others, but appointed you as a consultant for the plan to assist SHIELD in completing the plan."
Looking at the text on the message, Lainie chuckled.
He is worthy of being the head of the secret service. He really understood the saying that there are countermeasures for every policy.
The Security Council removed Lainie's position as the person in charge, and the egghead gave Lainie the title of consultant. Anyway, Lainie still does the work. What can the Security Council do to them?
"Didn't Lainie say anything else?"
Laini wanted to send this sentence, but Coulson edited new content for a day.
"The director asked me to tell you not to care about those scum. He will go back to solve the problem if there is any problem."
Raising her eyebrows, Lainie put down the phone. The green light was on, and there was no need to continue replying to the text message.
Slowly parking the car downstairs of the newly built Stark Building, Lainie got out of the car and threw the car keys to the company security guard who came to meet him. The other party had recognized the R8 from a distance and hurried over to help park the car.
Lainie handed over a $20 bill with Andrew Jackson's portrait, thanked him and went straight to the top floor of the building.
After greeting the company employees she knew along the way, Lainie stepped into the dedicated elevator of Stark Building.
"Welcome back, Miss Lainie, you are still so beautiful and charming today."
Jarvis's voice sounded from above her head. Lainie couldn't help but laugh when she heard it, so she took off her sunglasses and put them back in the warehouse.
"You are getting sweeter, Jarvis."
"I am telling the truth, Miss Lainie."
Jarvis's voice still had a hint of electronic sound, but there was a lot of human flavor in his words, which is generally called "high emotional intelligence".
Laughing and shaking her head, Lainie didn't take Jarvis' words seriously, but asked about Tony's recent situation.
"Mr. Stark is in good health. The adaptability of the new reactor is very good. Mr. Stark no longer needs to worry about palladium poisoning..."
Sure enough, artificial intelligence is still artificial intelligence after all. Even though Jarvis is very humanized, some human subtexts are still not easy to distinguish.
"I'm asking about Tony and Pepper, Jarvis, don't be so rigid."
Jarvis seemed to react for a while, as if he was processing the context of Lainie's words, so that he could give a more appropriate answer next time he encountered the same situation.
"Mr. Stark and Ms. Pepper's relationship is still in a slow rise. I believe they will enter the palace of marriage soon."
The answer was in a conventional way. Lainie nodded to understand, and then listened to Jarvis's prompt:
"Ms. Lainie, we are at the top floor."
Accompanied by Jarvis's prompt, the elevator door slowly opened, and Tony and Pepper were leaning against each other tightly at this time.
"Look who's back. I asked someone to help supervise the construction of Stark Tower, but he only came to the site for...how many times during the entire construction process, Jarvis?"
"Five times, sir."
"Did you hear that? Five times, which can be counted on one hand. Thanks to you for your help, our busy lady Miss Fiorina."
Tony's teasing voice had already reached Lainie's ears before she even saw him, and then the continuous verbal bombardment made Lainie feel a little embarrassed.
As for the Fiorina this guy is talking about, it should be the nickname this guy gave himself last time in Libya. I remember correctly it should be from Metal Slug...
"Stop your sarcasm, I won't blame myself even a little bit for this."
Leni smiled and hugged Pepper who came over, then took out the gift prepared for him from the warehouse and handed it over.
"I bought it for you on the way here. I'm not like someone who only remembers that strawberries are somehow related to you, but doesn't remember that you are allergic to strawberries."
As the saying goes, repay him with kindness, Leni is not inferior to Tony at all when it comes to talking nonsense.
Pepper raised her eyebrows when she heard this, then turned around and raised the gift in her hand towards Tony as if showing off.
"You guys chat, I'll get you a glass of water."
Seeing Pepper going to the bar with the gift, Leni walked up to Tony and winked at him.
"Not ready to propose yet?"
Tony coughed slightly in embarrassment when he heard this. In fact, he had indeed prepared the engagement ring a long time ago, and even kept it on Happy's hand, but...
"Actually, I was just about to do that, but someone suddenly arrived and ruined all the good atmosphere."
Leni rolled her eyes at him, her meaning obvious.
"I believe you ghost!"
The three of them sat down and after briefly chatting with each other about the past few days, Leni took the initiative to direct the conversation to business.
"When I come back this time, in addition to preparing to participate in tomorrow's unveiling ceremony, I actually have another thing to inform you."
Seeing Leni's serious tone, Tony and Pepper looked at each other, then put down their wine glasses and prepared to listen.
"New York...I'm afraid it won't be safe next time. I hope that after tomorrow's unveiling ceremony, Pepper, you can fly back to Los Angeles, hide there for a while, and then come back after the incident is over."
Pepper was a little confused, glanced at Tony, who was frowning in thought beside him, and then asked:
"Did the Hulk show up again?"
When mentioning the crisis in New York City, Pepper immediately thought of the Hulk incident that happened in Flushing. Although she did not witness the tragedy at the time, she was also aware of the horrific destruction caused by monsters like the Hulk. strength, not to mention the addition of hatred that time.
Leni shook her head and denied:
"No, Hulk and Dr. Banner are living very well. The danger I'm talking about...actually comes from outer space."
Tony's eyelids twitched, and he couldn't help but think of the tragic scenes he saw in New Mexico before, and a bad premonition suddenly arose in his heart.
"That Asgard?"
"Yes and no..."
