Chapter 199 Job Hunting
When Sherlock came back from the principal's office, Snape was still standing alone outside the door.
His face was calm, and on the surface he looked like he had no psychological disturbance, but his dazed eyes staring at the ceiling had already exposed his restless heart.
"Have you thought about what to say when we meet later?" Sherlock asked lightly.
Snape did not look at him, but said unexpectedly.
"I won't see her for now."
Sherlock immediately raised his eyebrows.
"Why is she gone again? Haven't you been waiting for this moment these days? Are you afraid that she will know how you treat Harry? As long as you tell the truth about the reason, you are doing this to save Harry's life, and she will definitely understand."
However, Snape did not say anything more, but turned around expressionlessly and prepared to leave.
When he and Sherlock passed by, he suddenly said.
"I owe you."
Sherlock looked at his back gradually going away along the corridor and muttered softly.
"Pretentious."
In the office, Lily and Harry had just met, so naturally they had countless things to say.
Harry vaguely talked about his experiences at the Dursleys, and only focused on his experiences after entering Hogwarts.
He said that he knew two friends, Ron and Hermione, and that the professors in the castle were all very good.
He also talked about his experiences in the past three school years, until this year when he recognized Sirius and discovered that Peter was the real traitor. Sherlock calculated that the time was about right, so he pushed the door and walked into the office.
Seeing Sherlock walk in, Harry immediately excitedly introduced him to Lily.
"Mom, this is Professor Forrest I told you about. He is the best professor in Hogwarts, and it was he who let me meet you."
Lily, whose whole body was transparent and suspended in the air, turned her head to look at Sherlock, and her beautiful face showed a grateful look.
"Thank you for taking care of Harry all these years, and for letting me meet him today."
Lily now maintains the appearance she had before her death.
She looked more mature than the Lily Sherlock had seen in the past, but the change in her appearance was not that big.
After all, she married Harry's father James right after graduation, and had Harry not long after that. When she died, she was the same age as Sherlock now.
Sherlock waved his hand and did not take credit for this matter.
"I am Harry's teacher, and it is my duty to take care of him. As for the fact that you can meet Harry again, you should thank Snape the most. If he hadn't been begging me with that dead look, I wouldn't have thought of helping you."
Although the old hypocrite didn't know what to say to Lily now, they had suffered together after all, and Sherlock didn't mind mentioning it if he could help him.
Not only Lily, but Harry also reacted more violently to what he said, and he exclaimed.
"Snape!"
Lily was a smart person when she was alive, otherwise she wouldn't have won Slughorn's favor.
"Professor Forrest, did you and Snape help me together?"
Hearing her address to Snape, Sherlock couldn't help but sigh in his heart, but this was normal.
The current Lily has experienced the period when Snape joined the Death Eaters and committed crimes in the wizarding world. She probably gave up on him a long time ago.
"In short, because of some accidents, Snape and I went back to the past. I thought of a way to come back, and he thought of a way to save you. Then I helped him and made a magic based on the development of history, so that you wouldn't die so completely before you die."
Sherlock really made a long story short and summarized the matter in a few words.
And Lily just listened to what he said, and looked at a place with a blank look. It didn't take long for her to guess the general situation.
"That Professor Slughorn is him..."
"That night in the summer vacation, it was him who cried and begged you to forgive him in front of your window."
Sherlock pouted and said, there was nothing to hide. Snape couldn't say it, so he naturally didn't care.
Lily's expression was a bit complicated, and it was hard to tell what she was feeling at the moment.
"He...left the Death Eaters later?"
"When you were alive, it was useless to persuade him. It was only after he died that he repented... Well~ I can't say he repented, he just figured out some things. After that, he came to Hogwarts, where he became the professor of potions and the dean of Slytherin."
Sherlock looked at Harry meaningfully.
"Of course, because of some relationships, he was really not very good to Harry. This professor was also unfair, but he was much better than the Snape you knew before."
Sherlock told Snape the truth, without much praise or derogation.
He just said it truthfully, which was a great help to Snape. As for what the two would say when they met and how to deal with the relationship, these were not Sherlock's concerns.
Harry was surprised and confused.
He was surprised that Sherlock and Snape disappeared because they actually went back to the past together, and confused because he didn't understand anything about Snape.
He had heard that Snape seemed to have special feelings for his mother, but he didn't know anything else.
After saying everything he could, Sherlock reminded Harry and Lily seriously.
"I woke you up, but your current form is still very dangerous, because I haven't experimented with it, and I don't know what kind of spell can affect you, let alone how long you can last in this state. So don't spend too much time out of the protective magic on Harry every day, one or two hours will be enough. Then you have to keep this a secret, and don't even tell Ron and Hermione."
Harry took Sherlock's advice seriously.
"Thank you, Professor Forrest." He thanked Sherlock very seriously.
But this is certainly not enough for Sherlock to help him do these things, Harry can only keep it in mind and repay him when he has the chance.
After Harry and Lily left, Sherlock relaxed and lay on the chair.
Back to Hogwarts, it was important to relax his tense mood.
But it was only a temporary relaxation.
At the moment before returning from the Department of Mysteries, although Voldemort did not cause any harm to him, the overwhelming black fog really shocked Sherlock.
This was the first time he saw the ceiling-level task in the magic world.
Sherlock didn't know what the effect of the black fog was, but when it was surging around him like waves, he could clearly feel that even if he could use 500, 1,000, or even tens of thousands of spells at a time, he couldn't break the black fog.
This is no longer a matter of quantity. The gap between magic and spells is too huge, and no matter how many more, there is no way to fill it.
Thinking that if Voldemort makes a comeback in the future, with himself messing around in Hogwarts now, whether the final outcome can be the same as in the original book is still an unknown.
This made Sherlock's heart more urgent to strengthen his strength.
There is no shortcut to learning magic. No matter how hard he works and how talented he is, he can't compare with Voldemort and Dumbledore who have accumulated magic for decades.
But the special nature of time travel still left Sherlock a way to quickly shorten these gaps.
Let the dead soul of the original owner merge with his own soul, so that the soul origin becomes stronger, and the magic used will naturally become stronger.
And there is also the control magic that comes with the strong soul. Sherlock always feels that its role is far more than just controlling the wand to cast spells, and it can be explored more deeply.
To do all this, Voldemort's Horcrux is a must.
In other words, the Horcrux is like a pill that can increase Sherlock's power by fifty years after taking one. He has already taken one.
It's just that he has learned to control magic without a teacher, and the spells he releases are much more powerful than before.
Voldemort must have more than one Horcrux, which means that Sherlock still has a lot of opportunities left.
Besides, Sherlock himself is the only one who wants to find the Horcrux, and Dumbledore is even more eager than him.
One of the most important gains of this journey back to the past is that he got the clue of one of the Horcruxes.
Leaning back in his chair, Sherlock was staring at the ceiling while drinking tea.
Because Lupin's identity was exposed, he could no longer stay in Hogwarts after last night. Sherlock, who originally only needed to mark the final exam results of the sixth grade, had a heavier task. He had to take charge of the four grades that Lupin was teaching.
But he was still not in a hurry. He didn't know what he was thinking about. He was in a daze for a long time before muttering to himself.
"Where did that little girl Amy go?"
......
The day before Hogwarts officially started the holiday, in Dumbledore's principal's office, Silk sat quietly in front of Dumbledore.
Dumbledore looked at the girl in front of him with a hood on her head, covering most of her face, and did not hide the confusion in his eyes.
"Why do you suddenly want to teach in Hogwarts, Miss Silk."
In the past ten years, Silk has come back to Hogwarts every year to visit the graves. Although Dumbledore did not communicate with her much, he knew her personality well and never thought that one day she would sit in front of him to apply for a job.
Silk said calmly.
"There is no reason, I just want to change places."
"Did the German Ministry of Magic agree to your resignation?"
Dumbledore's influence is not limited to the UK. He has some understanding of the internal affairs of most European ministries of magic, and is very clear about Silk's position in the German Ministry of Magic.
Silk nodded gently.
"If there are no vacancies in Hogwarts, I can accept both substitute and temporary professor."
Hearing her say this, Dumbledore felt more and more incredible.
She didn't want to stay in the good German Ministry of Magic, and she didn't want to work in the Department of Mysteries in the future. Why did she come to Hogwarts to be a substitute professor?
Even Dumbledore, who is as wise as he is, didn't figure out the problem, but he didn't have to figure it out.
He naturally knew what kind of ability Silk had, and he also knew her character, so he didn't have any resistance to her wanting to teach at Hogwarts.
Dumbledore said with a smile.
"This year the professor of Arithmetic Divination, Setima Victor, applied to me for resignation. She was a little tired of the life of a teacher and wanted to go out for a walk. I didn't find a suitable candidate before, so I wanted to keep her for a few more years. Year, we will agree to her resignation after a candidate is found. Now since you want to come to Hogwarts to teach, then Setima can get your wish."
Arithmetic divination can be said to be a branch of divination.
It's just that compared to divination, which uses abstract divination techniques such as tea leaves, crystal balls, and stars, this science uses numbers and images, which is more regular.
But divination related to mathematics cannot be that simple, especially for wizards who are not rational enough.
Only Hermione was far more interested in this subject than the others, and she even thought that those divination methods that relied entirely on guesswork were not worthy of giving her shoes.
Silk was not surprised and immediately nodded to take over the position.
Her main area of study in the Department of Mysteries is prophecy and divination. Whether it is conventional divination or arithmetic divination that has only emerged in the past hundred years, she has an absolutely professional knowledge reserve.
And just when Silk found Dumbledore to apply for a job, Sherlock also came to Diagon Alley in disguise.
He looked like a middle-aged wizard, with a thin build, a pale face, cold eyes, and an arrogant expression. He looked like an evil dark wizard who stayed at home all year round and didn't know what kind of black magic he was studying.
After arriving at Diagon Alley from the Leaky Cauldron, he did not stop anywhere else, but walked towards the white building in the center of the street with a clear goal.
Gringotts is very busy every day. As the only bank in the wizarding world, these goblins are responsible for many businesses, not just providing treasure troves.
Griphook, the goblin who once hosted Harry Potter in his first year, had just finished an exchange transaction when another goblin walked up to him with a wizard with a haughty expression.
"A man is here who claims to be a member of the Lestrange family. He is going to retrieve something from Treasure House No. 18. You are responsible for it."
Griphook put down the tea he was about to bring, nodded to the goblin, and after he left, he looked up and down at the middle-aged wizard who called himself the Lestrange family.
"The Lestrange family? This wizarding family, I remember... everyone seems to be imprisoned in Azkaban, right?" Griphook said suspiciously, "Do you have the key?"
Sherlock gave a disdainful sneer.
"Just take me in."
